Day Trip to Fredericksburg

Updated: May 13

Did you know the 2nd largest wine region in the country is right here in the Heart of Texas? Yep it is less than two hours from Austin in the quaint town of Fredericksburg. You may have wanted to go for awhile now, but you aren’t crazy about driving all that way. Or maybe you are happy driving to Fredericksburg, but you know you won’t be able to drive back after a day of tastings. It is one of those magical places that feels so close, yet so far away.

Experience Austin is here to the rescue! We would be happy to drive you and your friends to Fredericksburg for a fun-filled day of wine tasting and shopping. The best part is we've made it easy for you to experience the most of the region in a day trip by partnering with our friends at 290 Wine Shuttle, so you can easily access the best wineries in wine country.

The 290 Wine Shuttle is the region's only continuous shuttle along Highway 290, making it easy to visit many of the wineries as it stops at each of the locations approximately every 10 minutes. In addition, most of the wineries in Fredericksburg only allow the 290 Wine Shuttle to bring guests to their property on Saturdays. In other words, no other private busses or shuttles have the access to the best wineries in the region.

Here’s how your day will work.

You and your friends will arrive at Austin Visitor’s Center at 602 E. 4th Street in Downtown Austin at 8:15 a.m. to meet your host for the day. Once settled in your seats our professional drivers will transport you to Fredericksburg and our host will help you plan your day. All of our shuttles are BYOB so you and your friends can enjoy the beverages of your choice as we maneuver through the the Heart of Texas.

Once we arrive in Fredericksburg at around 10:30 a.m., you will be able to board the 290 Wine Shuttle, if you've pre-purchased your ticket. You will get to visit as many as 16 different wineries, leave your purchased items on the 290 Wine Shuttle along the way, and you will be dropped back at our shuttle by 6:00 PM for a safe ride back to Austin.
